Premium Jeep Safari Experiences from Habarana
Choose from three stunning national parks, each offering unique wildlife encounters. Our local guides will recommend the best park for your travel dates.

Minneriya National Park Safari
Minneriya National Park is one of the most popular safari destinations in Sri Lanka, and for good reason. This park is world-famous for “The Gathering” — one of the largest wild Asian elephant gatherings on earth. Between June and September, over 300 elephants come together around the Minneriya Tank to drink, bathe, and socialize.
But Minneriya is not just about elephants. The park is home to 24 species of mammals, including sambar deer, wild buffalo, and the elusive Sri Lankan leopard. Bird lovers will enjoy spotting painted storks, spot-billed pelicans, and grey-headed fish eagles among more than 170 bird species.
The best time for a Minneriya safari is during the dry season (June to September), when animals gather around water sources. However, the park offers excellent wildlife viewing throughout the year.
Your safari begins with a comfortable pickup from your hotel in Habarana, Sigiriya, or Dambulla. Our experienced driver-guide will share fascinating facts about the wildlife, plants, and local ecosystem as you explore the park.

Kaudulla National Park Safari
Kaudulla National Park is a hidden gem that offers a more peaceful and less crowded safari experience compared to Minneriya. Located just 20 minutes from Habarana, this park is perfect for travellers who prefer a quieter encounter with nature.
From September to December, when Minneriya’s water levels rise, the elephants migrate to Kaudulla — creating their own spectacular gathering around the ancient Kaudulla Tank. You can see herds of 150 to 200 elephants during this season.
Kaudulla is also a paradise for bird watchers. The park shelters a wide variety of water birds, forest birds, and raptors. You may spot the lesser adjutant stork, white-bellied sea eagle, and the beautiful Sri Lanka junglefowl — the national bird of Sri Lanka.
We recommend Kaudulla for visitors travelling between October and January. Our guides will advise you on which park offers the best wildlife viewing based on the current season and recent animal activity.

Hurulu Eco Park Safari
Hurulu Eco Park is a UNESCO-designated biosphere reserve and one of the best-kept secrets for wildlife safari in Habarana. This eco park is especially known for its resident elephant population — unlike Minneriya and Kaudulla, elephants can be seen here throughout the entire year.
The park covers a vast area of dry mixed evergreen forest, providing a unique and different landscape compared to other parks. You’ll drive through beautiful forest trails where you may encounter herds of wild elephants, spotted deer, wild boar, and even sloth bears.
Hurulu Eco Park is ideal for travellers visiting during the off-season months (January to May) when Minneriya and Kaudulla have fewer elephant sightings. It’s also less visited by tourists, so you get a more intimate and exclusive safari experience.
Morning safaris (5:30 AM departure) offer the best wildlife activity, but afternoon safaris are equally rewarding with beautiful golden-hour lighting for photography.

Bird Watching Tour in Habarana
Habarana is a hidden paradise for bird watchers. Located amidst dense dry-zone forests, ancient reservoirs, and lush wetlands, it provides the perfect habitat for over 170 species of birds — including rare endemics, colorful residents, and seasonal migrants.
Unlike a regular wildlife safari, our Bird Watching Tour is specially designed for nature enthusiasts who appreciate patience, silence, and careful observation. Your specialized guide has deep knowledge of local bird calls, nesting sites, and migratory patterns.
During the tour, you can expect to spot magnificent species such as the Sri Lanka Junglefowl, Malabar Pied Hornbill, Painted Stork, Crested Serpent Eagle, and multiple species of colorful Kingfishers and Bee-eaters.
The tour starts very early in the morning (around 5:30 AM) when bird activity is at its peak. We move slowly and quietly, giving you plenty of time to observe and photograph these beautiful creatures in their natural habitat without disturbing them.

Wildlife Photography Safari
Are you looking to capture that award-winning shot of a wild elephant or a majestic leopard? Our Wildlife Photography Safari is tailored specifically for amateur and professional photographers who need more than just a standard tourist ride.
We understand that wildlife photography requires immense patience, the right lighting, and perfect positioning. Our drivers are trained to position the jeep at the best angles considering the sun and background, while strictly following ethical wildlife guidelines.
We offer customized jeeps with ample space for your gear (tripods and long lenses) and provide bean bags for camera stability. We focus on the “golden hours” — early mornings and late afternoons — to ensure you get that soft, warm, cinematic light.
Instead of rushing from one sighting to another, we take a slow-paced approach, allowing you to spend hours observing animal behavior to capture the perfect action shot. Tell us your target species, and our expert trackers will take you to the best locations in Minneriya, Kaudulla, or Hurulu Eco Park.
